D&H DISTRIBUTING PREPARES "CENTENNIAL COUNTDOWN" TO WRAP-UP ITS 10th DECADE

— The Distributor Gears-up for its 100th Year, Defying the Odds as a Family-Owned Company and Thriving Through Challenges to Deliver Consistent, Superior Service to the Evolving Channel —

HARRISBURG, PA - February 1, 2017 - D&H Distributing, the leading North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, has embarked on a “Centennial Countdown” in preparation for its milestone 100th year of business, impending in 2018. The company has created a new web site with special messaging for its resellers, dealers and manufacturer partners throughout North America. The site, including a video presentation from Co-President Michael Schwab and Co-President Dan Schwab, is live at www.dandh.com/Countdown

The web page highlights turning points in D&H’s history that stand as a testament to its level of service and business agility provided over nearly 100 years. These strategies have allowed the distributor to become a consistent force of support in the supply channel, dating back as long as the IT and consumer electronics industries themselves —and in an industry that to this day is renowned for mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and corporate disruptions.

Through a slew of market transitions, D&H has maintained consistency and profitability, thriving and developing programs and resources that help its customers become more competitive and successful. The distributor continues to pioneer markets and customers, developing areas of opportunity and delivering innovative technologies to market in ways that help its vendor partners achieve their goals.

The company has an extraordinary history of adapting to economic changes, identifying trends that manifest into growth, and driving new industry sectors. This has seen the company through both industry crises and boons, whether by filling the need for industrial products through two war efforts; branching out as a national distributor to serve a wider geography in the late 1970s; or accommodating the nascent computer industry in the 1980s with the sale of the first Commodore computers. The whole of D&H’s growth has come organically, not through the acquisition of outside assets.

D&H is proud that its business is based in North America, with five respective distribution centers in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Illinois and California; plus a Canadian location in Ontario. The company services all its accounts from its headquarters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It has long been known for its North American Service Model, wherein accounts are assigned an individual representative to develop long-term customer relationships—never utilizing a customer service “pool” or outsourced support personnel. D&H Distributing has been on the Forbes list of America’s Largest Private Companies since 2009, and has risen every year in those rankings, currently placing at #118. The company employs more than 1,200 employee co-owners across North America, and has grown to be one of the largest employers in Central Pennsylvania.

D&H’s willingness to acclimate to—or even forecast—industry and economic fluctuations has allowed it not just to survive in the marketplace, but to help support both partners and customers in times of duress. The company’s resiliency has contributed to the ongoing recovery of itself and its partners through a range of events. These include the Great Depression (when D&H sold one of the few “depression proof” products the market had to bear: radios); to a flood that devastated inventory in 1936; to the challenges of the 2008 recession, wherein many external credit sources vanished, yet D&H extended reseller credit lines.

“While most other distribution companies outsource customer service roles for cost-savings purposes, D&H firmly believes in keeping 100% of those roles in-house. Over time, the extraordinary passion, work ethic, and tenure of our co-owners has been a strategic differentiator for us,” said co-president Dan Schwab. “Few companies can claim D&H’s dynamic, decades-long history with technology companies in the supply channel. We’re excited to begin celebrating this professional landmark in ways that will benefit our customers during our Centennial Countdown.”

“The technologies and products we represent have changed over the decades. However, our commitment to service and dedication to our partners will be part of our roots, and our future, forever,” confirmed Michael Schwab. “The invaluable support, loyalty, trust, innovation, and insight we receive from customers and manufacturers alike have fueled our commitment to unwavering service in the North American market.”

D&H customers can call (800) 340-1001 to contact their account representatives or to find out how to become a D&H customer. Visit www.dandh.com.
