D&H DISTRIBUTING DONATES SURPLUS TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT TO HARRISBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT

- After Moving To Its New, 2-building Location, D&H Offered a Valuable Inventory of Technology and Equipment to Harrisburg High School, SciTech Campus -

HARRISBURG, PA - November 13, 2019 - After just having moved into its new headquarters on Tech Drive in Harrisburg, major technology distributor D&H Distributing has donated more than 580 high quality surplus items to the Harrisburg School District. The donation included 220 chairs, 50 desks, 30 TVs/monitors, and 25 whiteboards, plus additional furniture, technology, equipment, and décor. The items consisted of equipment that D&H was not able to utilize in its newly renovated, two-building campus. The majority of donated products will be used at Harrisburg High School, SciTech Campus, a magnet school focused on STEM areas such as science, technology, and math. D&H is one of the largest employers in the Harrisburg region, and is a major provider of technology for small and medium-size business (SMB), education, and consumer retail environments in the North American high-tech supply channel.

D&H relocated more than 700 of its local employees into the new Tech Drive campus in mid-September, choosing to remain in the Harrisburg area that has been its home for almost seven decades. Although a large portion of equipment and furniture from its long-time headquarters on Seventh Street was recycled or reused in the new location, a significant inventory of still-viable technology and other workplace articles couldn't be relocated. Since D&H's corporate offices were in the City of Harrisburg for nearly 70 years, the distributor wanted to provide support and enhanced learning opportunities for the local school district through the donation.

A group of faculty and students from Harrisburg School District's SciTech Campus, including five eleventh graders, traveled to D&H's former Seventh Street offices on October 30 to select the donated equipment to be transported back to SciTech Campus. The total donation encompassed items for the classroom, administrative offices, and staff or student areas. It included projectors, projector screens, monitors, desks, chairs, couches, whiteboards, cork boards, refrigerators, appliances, filing cabinets, shredders, tables, and more.

"D&H is delighted to continue its support of the students of Harrisburg, including initiatives with the Harrisburg public schools," said Dan Schwab, co-president at D&H Distributing. "As an organization and as an involved member of this community, D&H and its employee co-owners are great advocates of STEM education. We help promote this curriculum through the proliferation of cutting-edge classroom technologies, in addition to support of local endeavors in higher education such as at Harrisburg University."

"D&H's generous spirit is appreciated by our school community," said Dr. Siéta Achampong, principal at Harrisburg High School, SciTech Campus. "The company has made a significant contribution to our environment, both directly by way of this donation, and indirectly through the next-generation technologies that it helps bring to market. We're excited that the company and its management continues to be involved with the district."

Harrisburg High School, SciTech Campus was one of 349 schools recently recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2018, based on overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.
