- One Of Central Pennsylvania's Largest Growing Employers, D&H Selects 7 Local Students from Area Colleges to Participate in the Company's First Formal Internship Program -

HARRISBURG, PA - July 20, 2018 - D&H Distributing, a major provider of small business and consumer technologies and one of Harrisburg's largest employers, announces it has launched its first-ever college internship program. The distributor has established this three-month-long program to invest in the central Pennsylvania community, recruiting, training, and nurturing the best and brightest impending local talent in hopes that said students can eventually become long-term members of D&H's employee/co-owner team. A total of seven interns were recruited for summer positions from Penn State University, Messiah College, and Shippensburg State University. D&H also reviewed applications from two other regional educational institutions.

The interns will be involved in the areas of sales, marketing, IT, and logistics, exploring a variety of responsibilities within their respective departments, yet learning how different sectors of the organization coordinate to accomplish the company's overall goals. Each intern will be paired with a department mentor for the summer to provide guidance, as they gain real-world knowledge of what it's like to work for a $4B, privately-held corporation. The students will receive educational tours of D&H's Distribution Centers and will participate in various team-building events. They'll also participate in D&H's summer technology conferences, immersing themselves in the myriad of tasks associated with a successful trade event.

The program will help students hone valuable workplace skills such as email and phone etiquette, presentation skills, working with Excel, fraud awareness, and the ability to manage assorted personalities in a professional setting. Though placed in separate departments, the interns will collaborate on a communal corporate project culminating in a series of presentations for company executives. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in "D&H Cares," the company's in-house, staff-run charity foundation, which supports both regional and national not-for-profit causes.

The philanthropic work of D&H's employees is only one element of the overall value proposition for its co-owner employees, which led the company to win a 2017 Workplace Excellence Award from TMCNet. D&H is an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, wherein employees own more than 30% of the organization. The distributor is renowned for fostering a positive atmosphere with a focus on work/life balance. Benefits include 401K matching, tuition reimbursement, family-oriented workplace activities, a dedication to promoting from within, and wellness-oriented offerings such as gym membership reimbursement and smoking cessation programs.

D&H Distributing is growing at a rapid pace as the IT and consumer electronics industries continue to find new prosperity, leveraging transformative trends such as high-performance Wi-Fi, virtual reality, home and office automation, mobility, and hosted services. The distributor continues to pursue new talent in order to support this growth trajectory. D&H currently has openings at three of its Harrisburg facilities: its Harrisburg corporate headquarters, its Harrisburg warehouse, and its Camp Hill returns center. The company maintains a Talent Network portal at, where visitors are encouraged to browse available positions and share the results with family and friends.

"We established the internship program to identify future co-owner candidates. A sure way to attract fine talent is to start early, pursuing the brightest prospects before they are fully engrossed in the job market," said Kelli Walsh, vice president of human resources at D&H. "We're truly excited to welcome such eager, bright individuals into the company. As much as we can provide them with valuable, real-world corporate experiences and an example of a positive, productive workplace, we hope they will bring a fresh perspective--and ideally, years of contributions--to our organization.'
