D&H DISTRIBUTING LAUNCHES ITS FIRST-EVER COLLEGE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

- One Of Central Pennsylvania's Largest Growing Employers, D&H Selects 7 Local Students from Area Colleges to Participate in the Company's First Formal Internship Program -

HARRISBURG, PA - July 20, 2018 - D&H Distributing, a major provider of small business and consumer technologies and one of Harrisburg's largest employers, announces it has launched its first-ever college internship program. The distributor has established this three-month-long program to invest in the central Pennsylvania community, recruiting, training, and nurturing the best and brightest impending local talent in hopes that said students can eventually become long-term members of D&H's employee/co-owner team. A total of seven interns were recruited for summer positions from Penn State University, Messiah College, and Shippensburg State University. D&H also reviewed applications from two other regional educational institutions.

The interns will be involved in the areas of sales, marketing, IT, and logistics, exploring a variety of responsibilities within their respective departments, yet learning how different sectors of the organization coordinate to accomplish the company's overall goals. Each intern will be paired with a department mentor for the summer to provide guidance, as they gain real-world knowledge of what it's like to work for a $4B, privately-held corporation. The students will receive educational tours of D&H's Distribution Centers and will participate in various team-building events. They'll also participate in D&H's summer technology conferences, immersing themselves in the myriad of tasks associated with a successful trade event.

The program will help students hone valuable workplace skills such as email and phone etiquette, presentation skills, working with Excel, fraud awareness, and the ability to manage assorted personalities in a professional setting. Though placed in separate departments, the interns will collaborate on a communal corporate project culminating in a series of presentations for company executives. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in "D&H Cares," the company's in-house, staff-run charity foundation, which supports both regional and national not-for-profit causes.
